How to Apply for Student Membership

If you are interested in becoming a student member of JSWE, please apply through our website (in Japanese only).

The deadlines for the membership application are (i) the end of October for the applicants who are going to give oral and/or poster presentations in the next Annual Conference and (ii) the mid February for the applicants who are going to participate in the next Annual Conference at the student membership fee because the student membership is required for these activities.

As for the printed journal of JSWE, it is distributed only to the members who wish to receive it by paying the journal fee of 3,600 yen.

Outline of Student Membership Program

(1) Membership Eligibility

College of technology students, junior college students, undergraduate students, graduate students, research students, etc., who intend to receive the journal of JSWE and/or participate in seminars, lectures, and conferences organized by JSWE. Only students whose academic advisor (or equivalent faculty member) is an individual member of JSWE are eligible for student membership.
Membership is valid for the fiscal year (April 1 to March 31). Even if you have student membership at the last annual conference (March), your membership has been expired at the end of the month.
When you apply for the next annual conference to make your presentation, please confirm whether your membership is valid. Even if you were a student member in last annual conference (this March), your membership is invalid in the case that you have not apply again for this fiscal year. If renewal of your membership is necessary, please apply again.

(2) Membership fee and payment method

5,500 per year. Payment must be made after approval by the faculty advisor. After confirmation of the payment and subsequent admission approval procedure, the applicant will be officially registered.

(3) Distribution of the journal

The journal will be distributed only to student members who wish to receive it. Student members who wish to receive the journal should contact the JSME office (member(at)jswe.or.jp) and pay 3,600 yen for the journal.

Application Procedure

The procedure to register as a student member is as follows.
(1) Provisional registration via the website (in Japanese only) (an automatic e-mail will be sent to your faculty advisor to request for approval of your application)
(2) Approval by the faculty advisor (your faculty adviser will receive an automatic e-mail where the payment instructions are included)
(3) Payment of the annual student membership fee
(4) Official membership registration after confirmation of payment and the admission approval
(5) If you wish to receive the journal, please contact the JSWE office (member(at)jswe.or.jp) and pay 3,600 yen for the journal.
(The payment instructions will be informed to you after receiving your request)
